Concrete questions.Straight answers.
Helpful guidance for planning a durable residential or commercial concrete project.
Understand the scope.
Then compare the price.
Concrete pricing is site-specific. Measurements determine volume, but the finished price also reflects what must happen before and after placement. Demolition, excavation, access, stone, compaction, forms, reinforcement, drainage, pumping, finishing, joints, curing, haul-off, and cleanup can materially change the work.
For that reason, Armstrong does not publish a one-size-fits-all square-foot promise. A narrow backyard patio with limited access is a different operation from an open driveway, even when the surface areas are similar. A replacement project also carries different labor and disposal needs than a new slab on a prepared site.
A useful written estimate should identify dimensions, intended use, slab thickness, preparation, reinforcement, finish, demolition, disposal, cleanup, and important exclusions. That gives the customer a fair basis for comparing proposals and reduces surprises after work begins.

confidence.
How do I request a concrete estimate?+
Call or text Armstrong with the project address, type of work, approximate dimensions, photos, access information, and preferred timing.
Can Armstrong tear out and replace old concrete?+
Yes. A replacement project may include demolition, removal, haul-off, grading, base preparation, forming, reinforcement, placement, finishing, and cleanup.
Do you tear out and replace concrete curb?+
Yes. Armstrong handles damaged concrete curb removal and replacement, including demolition, haul-off, base preparation, forming, placement, finishing, and cleanup.
Do you haul away broken concrete?+
Yes. Concrete removal scopes can include loading, haul-off, disposal coordination, and jobsite cleanup.
Why is site preparation important?+
Long-lasting concrete begins below the finished surface. Proper excavation, a stable compacted base, grading, drainage, forms, and reinforcement help the slab perform as intended.
How long does concrete take to cure?+
Concrete begins hardening soon after placement but continues gaining strength over time. Weather, mix design, thickness, and use affect the recommended waiting period.
Will new concrete crack?+
Concrete naturally shrinks as it cures. Good preparation, reinforcement, control joints, curing, and drainage help manage cracking and improve performance.
What areas does Armstrong serve?+
Armstrong is based in Taylors and serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Greer, Simpsonville, and communities throughout Upstate South Carolina.
How is a concrete project priced?+
A reliable estimate starts with the measured dimensions and intended use, then accounts for demolition, excavation, stone or base correction, access, slab thickness, reinforcement, concrete volume, pumping needs, finish, joints, curing requirements, haul-off, and cleanup.
Can I get a price per square foot?+
Square-foot figures can be misleading because two slabs of the same size may require very different demolition, access, base preparation, thickness, reinforcement, drainage work, or finishing. Armstrong provides a project-specific estimate after reviewing the actual conditions.
What can increase the estimate after a site review?+
Hidden or uncertain conditions such as unsuitable fill, roots, buried material, drainage problems, limited equipment access, unexpectedly thick existing concrete, or additional disposal can change the required scope. Known allowances and exclusions should be discussed before work begins.
Are decorative finishes more expensive than standard concrete?+
Decorative work generally involves additional materials, layout, color, stamping, detailing, timing, and protection. The final difference depends on the selected finish, pattern, borders, project size, and site conditions.
Does the estimate include removal and haul-off?+
Only when those items are included in the written scope. Armstrong can coordinate demolition, loading, hauling, disposal, grading, base correction, replacement, and cleanup, but each estimate should state exactly what is included.
How should I compare concrete quotes?+
Compare the full scope rather than the bottom-line number alone. Confirm dimensions, thickness, base preparation, reinforcement, drainage, finish, control joints, demolition, disposal, cleanup, access assumptions, payment terms, and who is responsible for permits or inspections.
Do you provide free estimates?+
Yes. Send the project address, approximate measurements, photos, intended use, existing surface, access conditions, preferred finish, and timing. Armstrong will confirm whether photos are sufficient or a site visit is needed.
